Soak a bag of navy pea beans overnight accordign to the directions on the bag.
In the morning, drain and rinse the benas, palce in your soup pot, I used a meduim sized pot, but as the beans soak up water and expand, i could have used my larger pot. Bring them to a boil, allow them then to simmer until they are no longer hard, which can take tow hours. Once the benas are sft enough to be bale to serve in say, baked beans, then add: 1tsp baking soda, i block of smoked tofu, whole, and appx zippy sandwhich bag of each: Chopped carrots, celery, and one of ontion, or two or three medium onions. That is it. Boil that until all is tender. Frist serving, the soup will be brothty and the veges and beans will be in dices throughout, but seconf heating, soup will be creamy with dices....needs salt.
So delicoiopus, and can serve a whole famly, doble the recipe for being ablew to have leftovers. Warning, do not eat this ebfore going out in the evening. This dish is for when you will be home or outdoors the rst of the night. My Dancer has an alternate meal when ZI amke this dish. Sorry to be graphic. If you do not fell well on beans, perhaps you should eat them every day. They are excelent fiber, and get abad rap, becuase when poeple who eat low fiber diets eat beans, they soemtimes have soem plumbing issues. Thios plumbing issues are usualy good to have, on a regualr basis. Enough said.
If you can make this souyp, you have a can have survivial food for financail crises, and in troubles times. it is vegan too, and can kepp overnight and be reheated probabaly for many days...Like: Pease porridge....9 days old...It is even good cold a da dip for cornchips once the broth has soaked all in...Mmmm
